ABOUT US
Hope Town Canvas started on our humble little kitchen table in early 2013, that February we sold our very first bag. Christmas 2013 we showcased our very first Seasonal Collection at the Harbours Edge Restaurant, it was a success and we've been making our bespoke sail bags ever since.
Our company creates one-of-a-kind Sail Bags made locally in Hope Town, Elbow Cay in The Bahamas. We offer new collections seasonally representing the charm of The Bahamas with fun, funky, island-style fabrics, and designs.
In 2015 we built our very own Shop and Studio Space just across the street from The Edge and have been loving our new space and the creativity and quality of bags our team has been able to accomplish in this time.
In September 2019 our community of Hope Town was devastated by Hurricane Dorian. During Recovery we opened a second storefront that kept our team sewing. We choose Harbour Island, Eleuthera to be the home of our second storefront. Harbour Island Canvas opened in late February 2020.
This year we opened our third storefront in Abaco's capital city of Marsh Harbour.

WHO'S BEHIND THE W
I’m Nakia Wong, the founder and artist behind Hope Town Canvas. I’ve always believed that what we make should tell a story — one of place, purpose, and passion. My story begins here in Hope Town, where island life has shaped everything I create. The colors of the sea, the rhythm of the island, and the beauty in simplicity all find their way into my work.
Hope Town Canvas started as a small idea — to make something lasting, useful, and beautiful by hand. Over time, it became a reflection of who I am: creative, resourceful, and deeply connected to this community. Each bag is designed and handcrafted with intention, blending durable materials, timeless design, and a touch of island soul.
I take pride in keeping craftsmanship alive and local. Every stitch and seam carries a bit of Hope Town — its spirit, its resilience, and its warmth. My goal is simple: to create pieces that feel personal, that hold stories, and that remind people of the beauty of slowing down and appreciating what’s made with care.
